I have been a beach lover all of my life and with that comes a love of shell collecting. A favorite among shells here at Kate McRostie DesignWorks and coveted among many shell collectors is the Junonia shell. With it’s distinctive and beautiful rusty to dark brown spots, it’s a real standout among it’s fellow seashells. [...] On Fridays, my team and I had the idea to bring you a collage of how we might envision products that feature my art used in context- be it a room or an outfit. There is a great website called www.Polyvore.com (if you are not already familiar with it) that allows us to do this [...] The best part of having beautiful hydrangea bushes around my house and studio is… Not sure the variety…comment if you happen to know! Love the color variations Look at that color! I love when they are overflowing with blooms! Making beautiful bouquets to bring inside! Hydrangeas and seashells are always a perfect combo! Because I license my artwork for use on all kinds of products, sometimes a customer asks for additional paintings to be added to a collection. Sometimes those additional painting ideas come easily and sometimes they don’t…especially when under a tight deadline. I was talking to my sister about this one collection that I needed to [...] For many years, before licensing my art to manufacturers, I had my own mural and trompe l’oeil businesses in North Carolina, California and Colorado. As my family moved around the country, it was a business that I was able to re-establish with each relocation. My favorite part of this business was creating one of a kind murals.
